Mislim da ova tuzba i natezanje nije uopste slucajna, bar tajming ne govori u prilog tome. Pisao sam da je Tim Cooke prije 15-20 dana bio na saslusanju pred antitrust komisijom, pricalo se o tih famoznih 30%.

Sa druge strane, Epic se zali zato sto 30% zarade ide platform holderima, ali se citava zarada bazira na meni odvratnim mikrotransakcijama, te za njih mislim da vode gaming u pogresnom pravcu.
Prije neki dan imali smo premieru nove WB Batman igre, i koliko god mi se svidjalo ono sto vidim, sve vrijeme mi glavu busi izraz co-op, i samo razmisljam da ce u pitanju biti GAS igra gdje nece biti klasicne SP kampanje, nego ce biti nesto ala Destiny.
Prvo sto mi je palo na pamet-hvala na Sony-u i njihovim SP cudima. Da nema njih, odavno bi svi igrali samo MP igre sa brdom mikrotransakcija i svaka igra bi bila GAS

Retail je fenomenalna alternativa, lol. Racunaj na to dodatne troskove za logistiku (stampanje, skladistenje i transport fizickih kopija), plus royalty fee koji uzimaju MS i Sony jer ne mozes prosto napravis igru za Xbox bez da platis taksu. A i neko cimanje kupca “kosta”?

Jedno je da Fortnite ne bude na iOSu, ali kakve veze ima Unreal Engine kao middle-ware za razvoj igara? UE nije na storeu? A na onom linku koji sam poslao a ti verovatno nisi procitao, imas nekoliko odgovora sta to znaci za druge platforme ili cak citave industrije, npr, manji developeri se oslanjaju na apple alate kako bi obezbedili lako portovanje na iOS, ili koriste neke backend servise, ako Epic igubi podsku, radije ce odabrati drugog partnera/engine nego sto ce sebi limitirati opcije zbog toga sto je vendor u ratu sa vlasnikom platforme.

Pa napisao sam i to - Apple preti da ce ukinuti Epicov developer nalog, koji se koristi za pruzanje podrske developerima koji koriste Unreal Engine, zbog toga sto je taj developer nalog “povezan” sa nalogom za Fortnite.
Pa ne, zapravo hoce. Niko nece razvijati igre za UE ako ne moze da dobije podrsku kroz patcheve. Podrsku ne obezbedjuju oni in house, nego vendor. Prvi bag bi “slomio” igru…
Ako Epic advokati ne uspeju da primoraju Apple da ostavi developer nalog, ne vidim drugog resenja…
If Apple successfully fends off the injunction next month, the effect won’t be immediate, and games running on the Unreal Engine will keep working on iOS — at least until a major bug pops up. But the longer-term implications could be disastrous, especially for iOS game developers. Because Apple controls the process by which developers create, test, and then submit iOS apps and any future updates for review, Unreal’s inability to support the iOS platform means Epic can’t incorporate new features of the operating system or implement updates and bug fixes that a game developer might need to keep the product running and functional.
“If Epic lost access to Apple’s developer tools, that wouldn’t break any current apps using Unreal in the App Store (or on other platforms),” Riley Testut, a popular game emulation developer who now operates an alternative mobile app store called AltStore, tells The Verge . “The problem is more for developers going forward; if Epic can’t use Apple’s tools, they can’t release bug fixes or new features. This most likely would mean Unreal-based games would break eventually in future versions of iOS and macOS, and Epic would be unable to do anything about it.
Da budem bas potpuno iskren, jeste logicnije da mi kao gameri, bez obzira na fijasko sa mikrotransakcijama, stanemo na stranu Epica - setimo se samo fenomenalne PS5 demonstracije UE 5 endzina, Nanite i Lumen tehnologija. Takve stvari imaju potencijal da zaista promene industriju. S druge strane imamo nekakve bezlicne procente i krsenje ugovora. Nadasve, krstaski rat protiv visokih provizija, na prvu loptu deluje dobro za gamere i developere.
Medjutim, iako ovolika kolicina pisanja deluje kao sizifov posao, nekako me mi je kolicina hiperbola i licemerja bas neprihvatljiva cak i za standardno probijanje bullshit-metra kada su kompanije u pitanju.
Nikako ne bi bilo dobro da UE bude kompromitovan, ipak. Apple mozda jeste otisao predaleko, sve i da ima pravo…
Haha, upravo slusam podcast, sasvim slucajno naleteo na ovo, premotajte na 17m, ispada da ni mali developeri nisu bas nesto odusevljeni Apple politikom, spominju “nepisana pravila” sto nije bas dobro, kao i nedostatak transparentnosti, los customer service… itd. Dzejson (Kalakanis) je izjavio da je to “jednostavno lame”.
