Evo jedan epic transkript chata sa ms supportom, smehotres
Hi Guys,So I upgraded from my legit windows 8.1 pro to windows 10 pro and it activated so I then went to do a clean installation and after that it wouldn’t activate and as per their website, once you upgrade from windows 8 and activate you should be able to do a clean installation, however this guy from microsoft insisted you cant, am I in the wrong here or am I right?
See below, I have blanked my product key etc for security of course

Hi
21:24
hi
21:24
Do you get any error code?
21:24
when I entered my product key?
21:24
yes
21:24
yes
21:24
Because windows 8 won’t work.
21:25
what do you mean?
21:25
If may I ask how did you upgrade?
21:25
It won’t work on Windows 10
21:25
so how do I activate it?
21:25
and Windows 10 upgrade no longer use any product key.
21:25
How did you upgrade?
21:26
I upgraded
21:26
then I did a fresh installation i.e formatted and installed windows 10 fresh
21:26
Oh that’s why you can’t activate windows.
21:26
It shouldn’t fresh install.
21:26
I would suggest to install Windows 8 back
21:27
what!?!
21:27
Then check your updates
21:27
no
21:27
and install Windows 10 on the Windows updates
21:27
I cant waste any more time on this
21:27
I should be able to activate windows 10 without having to re-install windows 8 again
21:27
The path of upgrade is not eligible for getting Windows 10
21:28
When upgrading, it will activate automatically if the path for upgrading is correct…
21:28
I was told by one of your colleagues I could, he said I could do a clean installation AFTER I upgrade as windows 10 activated after the upgrade and I can do a clean installation as my hardware id will automatically reactivate windows
21:28
Clean install won’t work. The upgrade should be on the windows updates.
21:29
We’ve sent the upgrade thru Windows updates and Windows App icon.
21:29
The official windows 10 install tool allows me to create a bootable frsh installation
21:29
so why cant I clean install?
21:29
I know and now that I have upgraded to windows 10 I decided to put a SSD into my pc and do a clean installation so why cant I just install a fresh copy on it?
21:30
Windows 10 bootable will prompt your for product key that’s for customers who haven’t upgraded Windows 10 within a year
21:30
surely you introduce a new key once you upgrade that you can keep for future?
21:30
That ISO is created for future reference.
21:31
But I put a new hard drive into my pc
21:31
so I need to install a fresh copy of windows 10
21:31
which I done
21:31
so I must be able to activate via my window 8 key, can you not convert it to a windows 10 key or something?
21:31
I understand but the exact path in getting windows 10 is from Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 SP1 and it should installed all prerequisites updates and the upgrade should be on the Windows updates and nothing else.
21:32
ISO Windows 10, bootable flash drive and DVD wont work
21:32
so what happens after 1 year and the free upgrade is gone and I get a new hard drive then? how would I get windows 10 back?
21:32
The offer is available within 1 year. Once upgraded successfully it will be yours forever.
21:35
that means you have enough time to get Windows 10
21:35
The offer is available within 1 yea
21:35
yes but if I change my hard drive and re-install widows 10 on it after a year how would I activate it then?
21:35
I have just visited your website and it says I can do a clean installation
21:36
No you should install windows 8.1 when doing clean install in windows 10 you should have WIndows 110 key
21:36
Quoted from this page https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-10-faq?ocid=win10_wol_help_faq
"Can I reinstall Windows 10 on my computer after upgrading?
Yes. Once you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware. If you make a meaningful change to your hardware, you may need to contact customer support to help with activation. You’ll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after you’ve upgraded.
"
21:36
"you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. "
21:37
so what you are saying does not make sense
21:37
yes but it will prompt you windows 10 key.
21:37
so whats my windows 10 key then?
21:37
“You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware”
21:37
The thing is that you only have Windows 8 key.
21:38
The clean installation is like for example if you are using Windows Vista.
21:38
I took note of the windows 10 activated key before I did a clean installation
21:38
would that help?
21:38
I tried using that key but it wouldn’t work either
21:38
Oh that windows 10 key is for Insider or Preview
21:39
no
21:39
Oh that windows 10 key is for Insider or Preview it wont work
21:39
its not the insider key
21:39
Did you buy Windows 10 key separately?
21:39
no
21:39
after I upgraded from windows 8 pro to windows 10 pro
21:39
That means it won’t work
21:39
i checked my product key and it was different
21:39
By the way may I have your first name please so that I can address you properly.
21:40
I already told you my name, why is this support so unprofessional?
21:40
my name is Jamie
21:40
Thank you for that information Jamie… Jamie if you have Windows 8 or 8.1 you are eligible for a free upgrade
21:41
In order to get this free upgrade
21:41
Your windows 8 should be 8.1 and installed all the updates right after
21:41
You will upgrade it on the Windows updates
21:42
that’s the exact path when getting Windows 10 for free.
21:42
that is correct and that is what happened and so i upgraded and windows 10 activated
21:42
Doing a clean install is for Windows Vista
21:42
so I then did a fresh installation and its now not activating
21:42
Windows Vista user will buy the Windows 10 key and they need to do a fresh install
21:42
so i am asking you , how do I activate this?
21:42
I didn’t have windows vista
21:43
i told you i had windows 8.1 pro
21:43
It wont activate because you did a fresh install/
21:43
I understand, I just gave you an example for Vista
21:43
I just quoted you from your official website…
21:43
Can I reinstall Windows 10 on my computer after upgrading?
21:43
Doing a fresh install is for Vista
21:43
no its not, your website doesn not state only certain operating systems can do fresh installations
21:44
Read your website please: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-10-faq?ocid=win10_wol_help_faq
21:44
and read this section
21:44
Can I reinstall Windows 10 on my computer after upgrading?
21:44
21:44
it clearly states I can do a fresh installation AFTER i upgrade which is exactly what I did and its not activating
21:45
so tell me
21:45
how do I activate this?
21:45
Jamie you need to follow the upgrade path. It shouldn’t be done in a clean install. Well try to hit Activate now.
21:46
If it doesn’t work at all then I’m going to submit an escalation case.
21:47
“It shouldn’t be done in a clean install.”
21:47
I did the upgarde
21:47
THEN i did a clean installation
21:47
so it should work
21:47
as per your website
21:47
Hi I already verified it here, it wont work since you did a clean install. The cleans install should be created a recovery image or a back up right after upgraded Windows 10 from Windows 8.1…
21:51
Since you did a clean install it’s a fresh install and windows will consider it as incorrect upgrade path
21:51
I used your official installer wizard tool from your website
21:51
Listen, your website says I can do a clean installation so please stop repeating yourself and go and check this out because if what you are telling me is true then your website is false advertisement to which I will be contacting Microsoft and sending this chat transcript to a manager to see whether what you are saying is true and if the website is wrong.
21:53
The clean install stated on the website it should be a recovery image after upgrade windows 10 from Windows 8.1
21:54
where does it say that on the website?
21:54
Doing a clean install it could be fresh install or a clean install using recovery image. That’s why you need to contact any tech if in any case you’ve changed anything on your windows right after the upgrade.
21:55
You’ll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after you’ve upgraded. That’s the recovery image or backup.
21:56
“right after you’ve upgraded”
21:56
your website or wizard install tool does not state that anywhere nor does it say on the small print on the bottom of that page.
21:56
That’s the basic step way back before Windows XP and 7.
21:57
doesn’t matter if its basic, on any product or service, thngs like this needs to be stated as per the law. I don’t believe for 1 minute what you are telling me if correct
21:57
so I am going to call and find out and coipy this chat transcript
21:57
You can copy and save it Jamie. But you can do create a media just right after upgraded WIndows. That’s the recovery media.
21:58
Then clean install and it should work then because that’s the recovery installation media you’ve created right after upgraded.
21:59
i did this using the windows 10 tool, and it created an iso which i put onto a usb stick
21:59
and that’s what i have installed and its not activated so its not worked
21:59
But you can still get windows 10 by going back to Windows 8.1 and follow the upgrade path
22:00
I’m not reinstalling windows 8.1 its an apulling procedure to simply activate windows 10 after i already upgraded and your website says ince you upgrade you can do a CLEAN installation, i did this and its not working
22:00
on phone to Microsoft now
22:01
You can do clean install if you’ve created a recovery image right after the upgrade.
22:01
Your website doesn’t say that, I’m sorry but this doesn’t state anywhere at all about “create a recovery image” , i simply used the installer as per the instructions
22:05
Inače i dalje savetujem svima da preskoče ovaj win.
