Deus Ex: Human Revolution Directorâs Cut on Wii U overhauls boss battles
As expected following a retailer slip, Square Enix is indeed bringing Deus Ex: Human Revolution to Wii U in âDirectorâs Cutâ form. What is unexpected, however, is that it supposedly does actually rework the game a little, including improved AI, âvisual improvementsâ, and a reworking of the widely-disliked boss battles.

DX: HR DC uses the Wii U GamePad for, and I quote, âtouch-screen hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, grenade throwbacks and many other neural hub enhancements.â
The DLC chapter Mission Link, which was essentially standalone before, is now âintegrated seamlesslyâ into the main game, as is the DLC mission Tongâs Rescue. The announcement also boasts of ârefined game balance and combat,â Miiverse integration, and developer commentaries and in-game guides. Hey, this is quite a lot of shiny new things! Now, please, pretty please, could some of them find their way home to the PC edition?
The boss fights were awfully out of place in HR, simply combat arenas which require straight-up fighting. You could simply run away from bosses in the original Deus Ex, if you wanted. As well as being out of place, they punished players who were equipped and augmented for sneaking or social approaches. How exactly theyâre different in the DC is a mystery, with Squeenix only saying theyâre âoverhauled.â
Square Enix isnât any more specific with a release date than âsoonâ. If you want Deus Ex newness now, the publisher also has the OC ReMix gang jazzing up the very first Deus Exâs soundtrack for Deus Ex: Sonic Augmentation. To my ears, theyâve mostly added lots of noises, but perhaps thatâs your bag.
