PlayStation 4 will have seen 170 physical titles announced by March 2015 if all goes to plan, according to Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) Vice President, Hiroshi Ueda.
The electronics giant recently confirmed a slew of new projects at its pre-Tokyo Game Show conference earlier this week. However, Ueda-san indicated there’s plenty more to come.
“I’m glad that, of all the titles we showcased, they were exceedingly abundant in variety,” the executive told Dengeki PlayStation (via NeoGAF). “If we limit the number to packaged games, not including download versions, I believe by March of next year we’ll be able to have 170 titles announced to date.”
Ueda-san also turned his attention to PlayStation Vita: “The number of players actively using PS Vita is quite high,” he said, “which has made creators and developers express their belief to us that they can sell games on the handheld… I think we’ll also see some games based on existing smartphone titles come to the PS Vita.”
PS4 was released in November 2013 and has already sold over 10 million units worldwide, beating out its nearest competitor, Xbox One, by a comfortable margin.
