Trenutni prototip:
Here’s a new look at the current state of the Steam Controller, which Valve just sent over in advance of next week’s Game Developers Conference.
In January, Valve said at its Steam Dev Days meeting for game developers that it would make some major changes to the in-development controller, meant to allow players of games on the PC service Steam to move their playing from the computer room to the living room.
When WIRED got its hands on the controller late last year, it was planned to have a touchscreen in its center, surrounded by four buttons. Valve said that these buttons, somewhat difficult to reach, would serve secondary functions, and that gamers would mostly use the trigger buttons and “paddles” on the back of the unit, all pressed with the fingers rather than the thumb, to perform most actions.
Stari prototip:
However, it seems that to some extent, traditional controller design has won out: Now, the controller will feature two diamond-shaped arrays of buttons, identical to what you’d find on an Xbox or PlayStation controller, and no touchscreen.
The unique circular touchpads, meant to offer players the precision and resolution of a mouse but in a handheld form, are still the centerpiece of the new controller’s design.
Valve will have this new prototype at Game Developers Conference, and WIRED will test it out on the show floor.
