It sounds like Microsoft might be taking criticisms about the Xbox One’s lack of exclusives to heart. According to a recent rumor, Xbox might be bringing back some of its biggest properties in new and interesting ways.
A member of the ResetEra forums who claims to have access to Xbox’s API recently published a post describing several of the games that are currently in some stage of development for Xbox, and some of the titles might surprise you.
First, there is a new Fable in development at an unnamed U.K. studio. Xbox boss Phil Spencer previously stated that the Fable series has “a lot of places it could go,” so maybe one of those places is a Fable IV announcement at E3 2018. Of course, the rumor could also be referencing Fable Fortune, the free-to-play card-based game set in Albion and developed by former members of Lionhead.
The next most exciting rumor is that a Perfect Dark game is in development at Gears of War 4 studio The Coalition, and that it will be a third-person action game instead of another first-person shooter.
Forza Horizon 4 is also in development, according to the rumor. While that might not be surprising on its own, as Microsoft has been annually churning out Forza titles, Forza Horzion 4 is supposedly set in Japan.
Additionally, Halo 6 matches will apparently have a higher player-count, and Age of Empires IV will get a release date in the near future.
One curious addition to the list of rumors was that Crackdown 3 will have four-player co-op for its campaign, which we’ve known for a couple of years now.
While the forum member who posted this information is known for having predicted several of Xbox’s E3 2016 announcements by also searching through Xbox’s API code, you’d be excused if you’re skeptical about some of these supposed upcoming announcements. That being said, a new Fable game might just be the thing that Xbox needs to announce at E3 2018, as long as it isn’t announced too early.
