Defiance now free-to-play on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 to follow June 15

It’s been on the cards for a while, but finally Trion Worlds has released patch 2.0 for Defiance which means that the game is now officially free-to-play.

Starting today, anyone can download the game for free on PC and have access to two character slots, two loadouts, and 35 inventory slots. Of course, if you already owned the game before today then you are not being forgotten. Current owners receive four character slots, five loadouts, 70 inventory slots, 30 days of Paradise Patron, and 1,000 Arkforge— a type of currency used for increasing power rating and rarity of items.

Also, from today players will be able to subscribe to the game via a Paradise Patron Pass. This pass grants a 10 percent discount in the in-game store, 20 percent boost to skill gain, a 20 percent XP boost, 20 percent reputation gain boost, daily and weekly login bonuses, a 20 percent boost to Scrip and Salvage, and a daily box full of two-hour boosts.

Defiance will be free-to-play on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from June 15.
