The announcement of DmC – Devil May Cry Definitive Edition and Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition was met with joy by fans of the series created by Capcom, as it showed some interest in the franchise from Capcom which is known for neglecting series that aren’t extremely huge sellers. In a new interview published on a Hong Kong gaming magazine, series producer Hideaki Itsuno has confirmed that Capcom certainly thinks that the Devil May Cry series might be expanded. Apparently the better the Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition sells, the sooner this new game will come.
From the words used, it definitely looks like another Devil May Cry game is already in development. When asked on the matter specifically, Itsuno san simply stated that the new game hasn’t been announced. Which pretty much confirms that development has already begun in some form or another.
Last week Capcom has started promoting Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition more heavily by streaming on its Official Twitch channel gameplay sequences taken from the new game. Last week’s livestream was focused on Vergil, showcasing some of the new moves the character will be able to use which were not available in Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition. A new livestream will be aired this Wednesday and it will focus on Trish, the second new playable character included in Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. More livestreams are also coming in the next few weeks, focusing on the remaining playable characters of the game – Lady, Dante and Nero.
Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will be released in Japan as a physical and digital release on June 18th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Western release, which will be digital only, has yet to receive a final release date but we will let you know more about the matter as soon as possible.
