This year’s rumoured last-gen-only Assassin’s Creed endeavour appears to be titled Assassin’s Creed: Rogue - the game has been listed for October release (via Google Cache, Gematsu) by online retailer World of Games.
The new Assassin’s Creed is rumoured to be codenamed “Comet”. According to Gameblog and Kotaku, it’s set in North America - to be more specific, New York - and stars a Templar named Shay. The new game is described by one Kotaku source as a cross between Assassin’s Creed 3 and the Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin’s Creed 4. There will be plenty of sailing, allegedly, plus guest appearances from Haytham Kenway and Adewalé among other returning characters.
In June, Ubisoft’s marketing executive Tony Key hinted at the existence of another Assassin’s Creed game besides Assassin’s Creed: Unity, commenting that “there’s plenty of current-gen Assassin’s Creed fans out there” and that “we hope to be able to talk to them about that soon.” Ubisoft has elsewhere stated that the franchise will support Xbox 360 for “the foreseeable future”.
It’s possible we’ll hear more at Gamescom in August.
Ubisoft will pull the veil off Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, the long-rumored PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 entry in the franchise supposedly due out later this year, at Gamescom in mid-August.
That’s at least according to the latest gossip over at GameVerb, who claims that the game will be centered around locations from Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag in the year 1758.
Naval warfare will also purportedly return and feature as a major component in Rogue, and will feature an as-yet unnamed Templar character. Haytham Kenway and Adewale from ACIII and Black Flag, respectively, are expected to appear in the new title.
Ubisoft has confirmed it intends to release an Assassin’s Creed game for PS3 and Xbox 360, though has yet to unveil any official details on the project. However, chatter on the game dates back to March, where it was known as Assassin’s Creed: Comet.
In addition to Rogue, Ubisoft is also bringing Assassin’s Creed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the shape of Assassin’s Creed Unity, which takes place during the French Revolution.
“Assassin’s Creed: Rogue” trailer grabs and release date leaked
Next Xbox 360 instalment to arrive in November, according to covert snaps
A Chilean Assassin’s Creed Facebook fan page has posted what appear to be trailer grabs for the recently rumoured Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, which is supposedly due to release on Xbox 360 on 11th November.
The grabs show a character executing a fallen Assassin on an ice sheet. This could be the game’s protagonist, who is alleged by multiple sites and sources to be a Templar named Shay. There’s also a snap of some pre-order exclusive ship skins, which suggests that naval warfare will, as speculated, be a big focus.
French retailer MicroMania listed Rogue for October release last week. The listing in question has now been pulled. Where there’s smoke…
