Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is a weekly episodic title starring Claire Redfield

A boxed version will follow after all 4 episodes launch

New details on Resident Evil: Revelations 2 have emerged following its official announcement last week. And what do you know, just like we guessed at the time, the game will star Chris’ sister Claire Redfield in her first major role for the series since Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Cue fangirl squeeing.

In a first for the franchise, and possibly inspired by fellow zombie apocalypse title The Walking Dead, Revelations 2 is to be a weekly episodic digital title. “Evolving the episodic chapter set-up of the original Resident Evil Revelations, Resident Evil Revelations 2 will initially release as a weekly series of episodic downloads,” says the official Resident Evil Facebook page post. "Each of the four episodes features hours of terrifying gameplay ending with dramatic cliff-hangers that leave players fully engrossed and anticipating the next twist in the gripping horror story.
“A digital download option of the Complete Season will also be available to ensure fans can get each episode as it rolls out, and a retail disc version will arrive following the final episode. Both the disc version and Complete Season will include additional game content, which will be detailed in the coming weeks and months. With the variety of options available, Resident Evil fans will have more choices available to them than ever before.”

Claire will be joined in her fight by none other than Barry “Jill Sandwich” Burton’s daughter, Moira. I’d have preferred Jill, but she looks capable. And hey, at least she isn’t Rebecca Chambers. That girl is an embarrassment to the S.T.A.R.S name. Claire and Moira are both employed by anti-bioterrorism organisation Terra Save, but during Claire’s welcoming party the two are knocked unconscious by mysterious masked assailants and wake up in an abandoned detention facility. There, they must contend with a new kind of enemy known as The Afflicted.

Each of the game’s four episodes will be priced at €5.99/$5.99 per episode, or you can buy the Complete Season for €24.99/$24.99. It’s coming to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One - look out for more details in the next issue of OXM. I’ll definitely be playing this - will you?
