Project CARS Runs at 60 FPS on PS4, Not There Yet on Xbox One; Cars Have 60,000 Polygons on Consoles
Project CARS is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in November, and the good folks at Slightly Mad Studios are working hard to optimize the game.
Today I talked with Vehicle Art Manager Jan Frischkorn during a hands-on presentation, and he mentioned that the PS4 version is quite stable at 60 frames per second already, while the Xbox One version still didn’t reach that goal, which is why the game is currently being shown only on PS4. Of course that’s just the current condition, and the team is still working to achieve the frame rate goal on both consoles.
Frischkorn confirmed that the PS4 has a power advantage over the rival, and mentioned that it definitely makes things easier for developers. As a matter of fact, the team was surprised by how well the game ran on Sony’s new console from the beginning.
In addition to that, we learn that the cars have about 60,000 polygons each on consoles, while the PC version on Ultra shows cars with between 200,000 and 300,000 polygons. On high it will bring the number down to 60,000.
The reduction in polygons on consoles is compensated with normal maps, and the cars definitely still look awesome. By comparison Driveclub has about 250,000 polygons per car, but it’s designed to display a considerably lower number of them at the same time.

Jedina porazavajuca stvar je broj poligona koji je po meni mali,a def uz malo vise rada s ps4 vise se moglo ostvariti,a vjerujem i na xbone.Mogli su ovo puno bolje uraditi.Daleko je ta igra od forze i drivecluba koji rade u 1080p s 250-300K poligona,ja sam dosta pesimistican po pitanju te igre.Igrat cu ju sigurno,a dali ce biti ono sto je obecano…po meni tesko

sinko sinko polako sad, 60k poly-a PO MODELU auta, dakle dovoljno je to, sto znaci svaki auto ima toliko, a racunaj da onaj koji ti vozis uvek ima vise, plus scene okolo itd itd, veliki je to broj… Do sada na forzi npr tvoj auto ima uvek malo vise poligona, i ima AA enablovan za njega i jos nekoliko eye candy-a pa opet izgleda super

jer pogledaj ovaj snimak, maltene svaki auto ima oko 25000-26000 poligona, a pogledaj na sta lici sve na kraju, maltene totalno realno i to sto covek pravio za sebe iz za****ncije da nauci rendering

Ovi auti imaju(u video) oko 60 tisuca poligona,a onaj na kraju Grand ima milion i nesto,no njega se ne racuna jer je nesto drugo.Meni je stvar u tome sto DriveClub ima cca 300K poligona i forza cca 200-250K e to je zavidna razina poligona NA AUTOMOBILU.Ja necu nista tvrditi jer nisam igrao Project CARS,ali po brojkama i SS i GP videima nije mi bas u rangu s Forzom i DriveClubom

pa to ti pricam da ovi na video-u koji imaju manje po 27-32 su totalno ok, cak sta vise crna LADA ima samo 5xxx poligona hehehe pa izgleda awesome heheheh, a sa 60-80 su jos bolji naravno, dakle ne fali nista tome, naravno uvek bolje kada ima vise… a ovaj da je stavio onaj Grad Cherokee od 1.7x miliona poligona i tako radio svaki auto ovde, trajao bi mu render jedno 3 godine s obzirom da mu je za ovo trebalo 110 dana heehhe

Ma djaba i Forzi i DCu po 250k poligona kad ih igra prikazuje znatno manje. Jedino gdje se prikazuje toliki broj poligona je u photo modu, autovisti i cut scenama(tad npr. Forza radi u 30fps). 60k je fina brojka, bitnije od toga je da postignu sabilnih 60fps-ova.
