Sony’s E3 2014 press conference dated

While Microsoft will kick off the day of press conferences on June 9, Sony has confirmed that it will close out the day at 6 p.m. PST.

The press conference is set to take place at the L.A. Memorial Sports Arena, and should offer a good breakdown of what to expect from Sony over the next year.

According to a recent leak, Sony plans to show footage of Uncharted PS4, announce Gran Turismo 6 for PS4, reveal God of War 4, show an The Order: 1866 stage demo, and more. However, this is just a rumor currently and none of it has been confirmed.

E3 2014 is set to take place in Los Angeles between June 10 and June 12.

E3 2014’s seven biggest Xbox One announcements, spoiled in advance
Ed attempts to steal Microsoft’s thunder

E3 is a time of continual surprise, of shock and agitation so extreme that your heart threatens to judder up your throat, out of your mouth and onto your head, like a cat trying to escape a bath. Unless, that is, some miserable blaggard spoils all the major reveals for you in advance.

But what kind of man would stoop so low as to deny you the thrill of hearing about a game, platform feature or similar for the very first time at a press conference, as the gods intended? Answer: a man like me. Here are seven earnest and modestly well-informed suppositions about Microsoft’s E3 2014 presser, ranging from the obvious to the… less obvious. It’s possible, of course, that there are other things on the way that I’m not allowed to tell you about yet. Hedge those bets accordingly, and if you have any other spoilers to share, sing out in the comments thread.

  1. Microsoft will go nuts about Halo!

Last year’s shabbily dressed teaser was but the snowball that starts the avalanche. A hefty proportion of E3 video time will undoubtedly consist of actual, in-game footage of Master Chief rocking Xbox One’s socks off; you can expect a release date, too, and some extended thoughts about both single and multiplayer from developer 343 Industries. But will Xbox One’s first Halo game be the quasi-mythical Halo 5, which appears to involve a “mysterious data chip” and “a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted”, or the hotly rumoured Halo 2: Anniversary, which is said to grant access to a Halo 5 beta? Given that the originator of that particular rumour has been proven right on other counts, and that Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has chosen not to deny it, I’m going to assume the latter.
2. We’ll finally hear about Games with Gold for Xbox One!

According to Microsoft’s PR boss Major Nelson, “details” of the Games with Gold program’s transition Xbox One will arrive this year. E3 2014 is the obvious date - there should be enough in the way of Xbox One titles on the shop to give some of them away by then, and it’s possible that Microsoft will make certain smaller-scale indie games available for free straight out the door, after the example of Contrast on PS4. The firm will probably want to talk up Games with Gold on Xbox 360, too. Spencer has hinted that there may be further adjustments to the program - Microsoft is apparently “playing a more active role in picking franchises that show up in Games with Gold”.
3. Brace for Japanoclusive!

The Xbox One will launch in Japan on 4th September, so now would be a very good time to start bigging up any hypothetical exclusive games or services that hail from/are aimed at the region. Exclusive games like the one Phil Spencer keeps talking about, which could be a Phantom Dust reboot. Or a new game from Platinum, developer of Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Vanquish. The latter studio’s Hideki Kamiya wasn’t impressed by speculation on this front earlier in the year, but what does he have to say for himself now? Let’s find out.
4. A new kind of Xbox One!

With the holiday season bearing down on them, all three big console manufacturers will have new versions of their hardware lined up and ready to go. The safest bet for Xbox One is a new colour scheme, like the ivory-white console that has hitherto been the exclusive property of Microsoft employees. It’s likely that there will be game-themed consoles or bundles to show off - a Halo edition console would be a no-brainer, as might a Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare-themed One. At the riskier end of the prediction spectrum, we’ve heard talk of a brand new model of Xbox One - a smaller “lite” Xbox One, after the example of the Xbox 360 Slim, or a discounted Xbox One that’s shy a disc drive. Microsoft is said to have considered manufacturing a disc-less Xbox One as late as last summer. Perhaps the idea deserves a second glance?
5. First proper Fable Legends gameplay and Lionhead’s new IP reveal!

Lionhead has now washed its hands of Fable Anniversary, though there’s the possibility of an Xbox One version to consider; next up is Fable Legends, which looks very presentable in the most recent screenshots. The game first came to light last August, and is an asymmetrical, adversarial co-op experience in which up to four players try to complete a quest as Heroes while a fifth, Villain player or AI character places enemies and hazards. It’s an exotic departure for the franchise that’s probably easier to demonstrate than describe - and I’m confident that Microsoft will do exactly that at E3. It’ll also release a concept trailer for Lionhead’s Other Game, which apparently doesn’t have anything to do with Fable, and can thus safely be shown off without stealing any of the latter’s limelight.
6. Another Rare reboot!

There are several possibilities on this front, and they’re all rather exciting. Well, except for the one about Rare making another Kinect Sports title, which is probably inevitable, though the developer may prefer to expand and build on Kinect Sports Rivals via new content “seasons” for the moment. Rare clearly has other and bigger fish to fry, however - as Aoife noted during a recent press trip, three of the developer’s four converted office-barns are presently given over to super-secret somethings, and Rare bigwigs have told us that they have ideas for how various (strictly hypothetical) Banjo, Perfect Dark and Viva Pinata games might use the Xbox One’s Kinect sensor. Microsoft is eager to bring back old Xbox IPs, as Double Helix’s well-regarded Killer Instinct reboot demonstrates. Allow me to sound a note of caution, before you allow your imagination to run rampant - Rare has insisted that it will never bring back a franchise for the sake of “prettier graphics” alone.
7. Forza: Deep South!

A new Forza game will launch this year, according to an indiscreet car manufacturer. It’s unlikely that Turn 10 will be able to put together a new numbered Forza in a year, particularly in light of complaints about the number of cars and tracks available in Forza 5; the new Forza is all but certain to be a sequel to Forza Horizon, subtitled “Deep South” (hit that link for alleged “concept art”) and set amid equatorial swampland. As of last August, Horizon developer Playground was “working on an exciting unannounced title for Xbox One”. Methinks I hear the sound of vrooming from behind a locked office door.

It’s a list - add to it. Other possibilities include: new Quantum Break gameplay and a release date; a multiplayer reveal for Sunset Overdrive; a tech demo for the new, untitled Gears of War; and (very probably) a bunch of exclusive DLC announcements for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Damn, bas izgleda predobro.

Ja ipak vjerujem u sony i njihova iznenadjenja i ekskluzive.

Baš me interesuje šta će reći u novom Directu, malo o ovim Zeldama, malo o rimejku Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire i ovo Xenosaga…
Kod MS me pak najviše interesuje Forza, Gears i BF3.
Dok kod Sony GOW3 i The Order…
