Sony’s PlayStation 4 is sitting comfortably atop of the German retail charts, selling up to six times more than that of its newest competitor, Nintendo’s Wii U.
That is according to German price comparison website Billiger, who say that Sony’s nine-month-old flagship console has shipped a staggering 540,000 units since its launch way back in November. And while things have slowed down a tad since March – which is normal in sales projection – the console’s still on-point to tackle the latter half of the year strongly.
The website also goes on to mention that the demand for PS4’s direct competitor, the Xbox One, is waning with Microsoft’s last-generation Xbox 360 eclipsing its big brother in the selling stakes, with the former managing to shift 170,000 units. The Wii U’s resurgence can be in-part put down to the release of Mario Kart 8, which has elevated sales to a degree.
With the release of big hitters like Destiny, Far Cry 4, FIFA 15 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in the coming months you can expect PS4 sales to surge even quicker.
