West Games has released a prototype gameplay video for its upcoming spiritual successor to STALKER, Areal. As the team noted, this is a prototype video that does not reflect the quality of the final product. And while West Games has provided at least something, we strongly suggest being extremely cautious about this Kickstarter (especially after what has happened to Yogventures).

WTF??? Sta je ovo?
Evo, postigli su cilj, premasili su 50.000.
Ali o cemu se tu zapravo radi: Mislim da je ovo jedna od vecih kradja koje su postignute na kickstarteru. Pojavili su se bez ikakvog dokaza da se radi na igri.
-Iskoristili su S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fransizu i njegov mocan komjuniti kako bi zaradili novac, predstavljajuci se kao glavni tim koji je radio na SoC, CoP, Clear Sky itd, da bi na kraju ispalo da su radili na tim igrama isto koliko i sam ja.
-Izbacivali su samo concept art nekih glupih vozila, a isostavilo se da su i to pokrali sa nekih drugih sajtova i da su neke od tih slika zapravo radjene za istoimenu knjigu.
-Sjetili su se da izbace gameplay par dana prije kraja a zamaskirali su ga onim mrakom tako da se sumnja da je i taj gameplay njihov.
- Napravili su lazne accounte na kicstarteru koji non stop spamuju sa ogromnim postovima u kojima se govori o nekim nevezanim stvarima za projekat, npr. o ratu u Ukrajini, i po sistemu copy/paste napune sekciju za komentare kako bi potisnuli sve one kriticne po njih u kojima se govori o mogucoj kradji i u kojima se postavljaju pitanja West Games-u na koja oni naravno ne zele da odgovore.
- Tvrde da su dobili email od Putina licno i kako imaju njegovu podrsku (this is fu**ing hilarious)
- I kao slag na torti- zapeli su skoro mjesec dana na 30.000 i danas odjednom, pravo niotkuda, u 5 min pojavise se dva accounta i uplatise pojedinacno po 12.000. Dakle, uplatili su svoj novac kako bi kampanja bila uspjesna i kako bi pokupili taj ostatak.
Lagali su od samog pocetka sta ce da urade sa tim novcem (naravno da se igra ne moze napraviti za sve te platforme koje su naveli za 50.000 e, i to za godinu dana). Sa tim novcem ce vjerovatno pokusati da privuku neke vece investitore, ili da jednostavno pobjegnu.
Prekrsili su mnoga pravila kickstartera, mnoge cudi sto projekat nije obustavljen. Sve u svemu, veoma sumnjiva kampanja i drago mi je da im nisam nista uplatio. Na kraju krajeva, ako igra uopste i izadje jednog dana najmanji problem ce biti uzeti je. Ovako bi to bio veliki rizik…
Volio bih da bude nesto od svega ovoga ali ne treba ocekivati nista sa sigurnoscu. Vidjecemo…

UPDATE: West Games has opened direct crowdfunding for Areal on its website, and has issued the statement below:
Our Kickstarter was suspended without any warning. As per Kickstarter’s policy, we cannot contact them to find out why. Areal is the spiritual successor to STALKER, in terms of our vision for it and in terms of the team that we have (which includes Alexey Sytyanov, the lead game designer and screenwriter for STALKER). You can find out more about us and our team on our website.
From the very beginning, we showed what we have accomplished, and showed the atmosphere for what we want to accomplish.
The fact is that there are a lot of companies that make their livelihood on STALKER, so when we showed up on the scene, they saw us as a threat and did everything that they could to stop us.
People also need to take into account that Ukrainians and Russians are in an information war right now, and as a Ukrainian developer, we were subject to constant hostility from Russian Kickstarter accounts (we even got death threats). There are over 16,000 comments on our Kickstarter, which is unprecedented for the amount of supporters that we have, and a lot of our comments are hate filled. Some sites, in light of this, chose to report based on sources from direct competitors or from the myriad of comments based on lies. Others chose a neutral ground, because of the confusing situation around us, and still others wrote positively about us. All in all, more than a 1,000 news results come up when you type in “Areal Kickstarter” on Google.
After Vice news wrote an article about us, people started contributing every minute, but Kickstarter was afraid of the controversy surrounding our project, so they suspended funding. We set our base goal at 50K; even with 2 days left, we raised more than 64 thousand dollars, and our competitors were doing everything that they could to stop that. Kickstarter is a business, and that was their decision. We were not warned, we do not have a say in the matter, we cannot notify our backers, we cannot message our backers, and we can’t post updates anymore. That is how Kickstarter chose to act.
We are the creators of STALKER, and we know that we can make Areal even better than that series, because of advances in technology, gameplay mechanics, and story. We need your support to make that happen, so we have opened up a website wherein we will continue to raise funds.
